Notable Descendant of Sir Robert Belknap (abt 1330-1401): Elizabeth II, Queen of the United Kingdom, died on 8 September 2022 at Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Born 21 April 1926 in Mayfair, London, Middlesex, England, Elizabeth Alexandra Mary of the House of Windsor was the first child born to the Duke and Duchess of York, later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. Her reign of over 70 years was the longest of any British monarch and the second-longest recorded of any monarch of a sovereign country (only behind Louis XIV of France). At the time of her death, Elizabeth II was queen of 14 other Commonwealth realms in addition to the United Kingdom. This year’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of Elizabeth’s accession to the throne were the first time that any British monarch has celebrated such a jubilee. Queen Elizabeth II is a direct descendant of Sir Robert Belknap through at least 21 well-documented ways, which is in itself quite remarkable. (Note that Elizabeth II’s daughter-in-law, Diana, Princess of Wales, is a direct descendant of Sir Robert Belknap over 28 times! King Charles III’s second wife, Queen Consort Camilla (Camilla Rosemary Shand Parker-Bowles), is also a direct descendant of Sir Robert Belknap, as is Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, former wife of Prince Andrew.) Queen Elizabeth II is the first direct descendant of Sir Robert Belknap to serve as monarch of England since Lady Jane Grey, the “Nine Days’ Queen of England” and 4th great granddaughter of Sir Robert Belknap and great granddaughter of Henry VII. Other currently serving ruling members of royalty who are also direct descendants of Sir Robert Belknap include: Albert II, Prince of Monaco; Philippe, King of Belgium; Henri, Grand Duke of Luxembourg; Alexander, Crown Prince of Yugoslavia; Cayetana Fitz-James Stuart, 18th Duchess of Alba (most-titled aristocrat in the world); Aga Khan IV, 49th Imam of Nizari Ismailism; etc. For further information on Elizabeth II, see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabeth_II
