Elder Carl B. Cook to Address 2016 Reunion

Cook, a General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints–and direct descendant of Gilbert Belnap through Gilbert’s son William James, will be the keynote speaker at the 2016 Belnap Family Reunion, which will be held on Saturday, August 13, in Eden, Utah. Elder Cook was sustained a member of the Church’s First Quorum of the Seventy on April 2, 2011, at age 53. At the time of his call, he had been serving as a member of the Fifth Quorum of the Seventy in the Utah North Area. He received a bachelor of arts degree in business marketing from Weber State College in 1981 and an MBA from Utah State University in 1982. In 1982 he began his career with the Xerox Corporation and then in 1985 became a partner with The Boyer Company. Elder Cook has served in numerous Church callings, including full-time missionary in Hamburg, Germany, bishop, stake president’s counselor, stake president, president of the New Zealand Auckland Mission, and Area Seventy. He recently completed an assignment as president of the Church’s Africa Southeast Area. A third great grandson of Gilbert Belnap, Carl Bert Cook was born in Ogden, Utah, on October 15, 1957, to Bert Eugene and Ramona Poulson Cook. He married Lynette Hansen in December 1979. They are the parents of five children. Elder and Sister Cook reside in Liberty, Utah. Plan now to attend this year’s reunion to meet and hear Elder Cook.
